Assalamu Alaikum

All Pakistanis in the US must register between January 13, 2003 and February 21, 2003 who were inspected by INS and last admitted to to the US as a nonimmigrant on or before September 30, 2002; are male, born on or before January 13, 1987; and will be in the US at least until February 21, 2003.

Pakistan is among the 21 countries whose citizens are going through this new controversial registration process which has already been challenged in the court.

We suggest that those affected register early, before the deadline. Those of other countries who registered early did not face as much difficulty as those who showed up on the last day. According to Reuters news agency, 1,000 to 2,500 of these people were detained in very inhumane conditions until they were processed, sent to jail, or released on bond.
